Havant Borough Council’s Cabinet has approved
consultation on the Draft Havant Borough Local Plan 2036.
This consultation will take place from 8th January 2018
to 16th February 2018.
During the consultation period, content regarding the
draft Local Plan will be circulated to residents of the Havant borough in
several ways:
There will be dedicated webpages and
frequently asked questions so residents can find out more.
A series of exhibitions will be held across
the borough. These will give residents the opportunity to discuss proposals
with the Council's officers. Further information about these exhibitions will
be released in the New Year.
A set of booklets and leaflets will help
guide residents through the proposals in the Draft Local Plan.
Large format posters will be displayed in
town centres, further promoting the consultation and exhibitions.
Residents will be able to respond with their views using
a web-based survey. The web-survey will be easily available from the Havant
Borough Council social media pages and at www.havant.gov.uk/localplan.
The Local Plan is an overarching strategic planning
document for the borough of Havant; the consultation period and following
update to the Local Plan will provide the framework for guiding the
determination of planning applications.
The production of the Local Plan will help to deliver
many of the council’s priorities in the Corporate Plan. In particular, the
Local Plan will play a key role in supporting the growth of the area’s economy
and the number of people in work; planning for the right type and number of
homes to create sustainable communities, while working to improve
infrastructure.
David Guest, Cabinet Lead for Planning and Place-Making,
said: “It is important residents of Havant borough have the opportunity to
understand what the Draft Local Plan means for their area.
“As a consequence, the consultation will be comprehensive
including exhibitions, a social media campaign and distribution of leaflets and
booklets. We are aiming to reach as many residents as possible and invite their
feedback via our web-based survey.”
