My Hastings downtime next week
Council tax and benefits accounts will be unavailable through My Hastings from 1pm on Thursday 22 until 10am on Monday 26 February while finance systems are updated.
Unfortunately during this time, contact centre staff won't be able to help with queries about your accounts as they will also be unable to access this information. When the systems are back up and running the phone lines are likely to be busy. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Have your say on East Sussex County Council transport plan
 There is only one more week left to have your say on East Sussex County Council's public consultation on the draft Local Transport Plan for East Sussex.
If you want to find out more about the plan, you can drop into an information session with East Sussex County Council officers:
- Tuesday 20 February, 11am - 3pm - Hollington Library, Battle Road, Hastings, TN37 7AG.
The plan looks ahead until 2050 and sets out how East Sussex will connect people to places around and through the county by walking, wheeling and cycling, using public transport, traveling by car, or by new ways to travel.
The deadline for comments is midnight on Sunday 25 February.
Have your say on public realm consultation
 There are now only two weeks left for you to have your say about plans to change the town centre through the public realm and green connections Town Deal project.
There are still two open public sessions for you to find out more from the project team before you complete the consultation.

East Sussex County Council, Hastings Borough Council and the Hastings Garden Town Team are working on plans which include greener connections for walking and cycling through the town and improvements to public spaces.
The public consultation on the proposed concept designs is open until Friday 1 March. Full details including the project brochure, public events and how you can respond to plans can be viewed on the East Sussex County Council website.
The online survey is open until 11.59pm on Friday 1 March.
Printed brochures including a paper copy of the survey and a freepost envelope and are available at Hastings Library, reception at Muriel Matters House, Breeds Place, Summerfields Leisure Centre and the Common Room in Cambridge Road.
Please let family and friends know about this consultation too, the team want to hear from as many people as possible on the proposals.
Have you thought about how to vote?
 To vote in person at a polling station in the upcoming local council elections on Thursday 2 May, you will need to show a form of accepted photo ID.
This includes things like a passport, photo driving licence, older person's bus pass, disabled person's bus pass, Blue Badge photo ID, and many other forms of photo ID. Please check the full list on our voter ID webpages.
If you don't have any accepted photo ID you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate. Applications are done online and need to be made to the council by 5pm on 24 April 2024 for these elections, but we encourage you to apply as early as possible if you can. If you have friends or family who don't have photo ID, please help them apply for their certificate if they want to vote in person.

Hastings Adventure Playground benefits from new basket swing as part of improvement programme
 A new multi-age basket swing has been installed in Hastings Adventure Playground in Broomgrove, which can be used by families, adults and children and replaces the old swing, which was no longer safe to use.
The replacement swing is part of a wider programme of work to improve and enhance the playground, ensuring it remains safe and meets the needs of residents and can be enjoyed by all who visit and use the playground.
Old Roar Gill landslip
On Thursday 15 February, Hastings Borough Council was notified of a landslip at Old Roar Gill in Alexandra Park. The council and other agencies have all attended the site. We are continuing to monitor the affected area, including the footpath, which is currently closed off to the public.
The Bourne road closure
 The Bourne in Hastings will be closed for resurfacing from Monday 4 March to Friday 22 March. Any changes to dates or times will be updated on signs on site.
The road will be closed between 7pm and 6am, with the team working between East Parade and Old London Road, including the entrance to Harold Road.
The diversion route will be via Priory Road, Mount Pleasant Road, Elphinstone Road and the reverse (see map above - the diversion route is shown in blue).
An alternative diversion route will be in place for HGVs via A21, A28, A268.
Access for residents will be unaffected between the Priory Road junction and approximately 100m north of the junction with High Street. If you need vehicle access beyond this point, please discuss this with the team on site to see if this is possible. Please bear in mind, there will be delays whilst the area is made safe and your vehicle is escorted by site marshalls.
The Mayor of Hastings shares the town's well wishes with His Majesty The King
The Mayor of Hastings, councillor Margi O'Callaghan, has written to Buckingham Palace to send the town's thoughts to His Majesty The King. The letter comes after news from the palace about the King's diagnosis. In the letter, the mayor highlights the affection some residents share for the royal family, past visits to the town and wishes the King a speedy recovery.
