Southern Water update
At the Full Council meeting on 19 July, Cllr Paul Barnett, leader of the council, read out a letter he was sending to Southern Water seeking a far more co-operative and transparent approach to the issues Southern Water are dealing with in Hastings.
We have agreed with Southern Water to share important and relevant information with residents through this newsletter on a regular basis, to help make sure that you are kept up-to-date with work they are doing and other updates. We are reliant on Southern Water sharing relevant data with us and will continue to press them for timely updates.
The latest update is below:
Starting on Monday (21 August) Southern Water (SW) will be installing a section of temporary pipe in Bexhill Road, next to Bulverhythe Way. They expect to be finished in this area within ten days.
The main working area will be in Bexhill Road, but residents may notice extra construction traffic in and around the local area.
They will be on site from 7.30am, but noisy work will not start until 8am. There will be generators and some noisy machinery, but SW have said that inconvenience to residents will be minimised.
To keep everyone safe, two-way traffic lights will be in operation. Residents will always be able to access their driveways and homes. SW will help with deliveries and bin collection if required.
If you have any questions, please call Barry Woodham, Customer Stakeholder Manager for Cappagh Browne, SW's contractors, on 07525 277739, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Out of hours, call Southern Water direct on 0330 303 0368 and quote Project Reference Number (PRN) 770031.
Southern Water (SW) will also be writing to all beach hut users by the first week of September to tell them more about the sewer repair work in this area. It is due to start in September, after the schools have gone back. SW say that pedestrians and cyclists will always be able to use the cycle route through the area.
If you have any questions about the work please contact SW at capitalcomms@southernwater.co.uk. From September there will be regular updates on the Southern Water website.
