Update on internal communications survey
Following the staff survey on the current internal communication channels, we are keen to make sure that we listen and respond to your feedback.
With that in mind, we are making some changes to the Live Leadership Briefings that take place each month starting with the one scheduled for next week. You can expect to hear more around our organisational priorities, giving you the most up-to-date information about any key pieces of work taking place, and also hear more from a wide range of our executive team and place leaders. We will tell you ahead of each briefing what you can expect to hear about.
We have listened to feedback on the questions in the Live Leadership Briefings. We will be looking to focus questions on the leadership topics to avoid duplication and repetition of information that is available on the staff intranet.
Work is ongoing looking at a diary process along with investigations into ways the live leadership briefing could be further developed.
Accessing the intranet
We have been made aware that there are still a number of staff who are unable to access the intranet. If you are still struggling to log in then please email the IT team. There is a great deal of important information on the intranet so it’s important that all staff are able to view it.

Live Leadership Briefing
Join us at the next live leadership briefing, led by our Chief Executive Mark Fisher, on Thursday, 26 January, from 9am – 10am
You should have received an invite to this event which contains the joining link, please get in touch if you haven’t.
We’ve listened to your feedback via the internal comms survey so this month’s session will have a slightly different format. We’d welcome your opinions about this after session.
This month our topics will be on finance and the current financial challenges from Kathy Roe, Deputy Chief Finance Officer, along with an update on the ICP strategy from Paul Lynch, Director of Strategy and Planning. We are also looking at other ways we can incorporate your experiences and views on an ongoing basis.
You can submit questions on finance and the strategy in the usual way and then these will then be reviewed for publishing. Please note, rude, offensive or personal comments about the presenters will not be published. Due to the volume of questions, and in order to cover as many as possible, questions will be grouped under key themes, and the most popular passed to presenters to answer in the briefing.

Greater Manchester's winter vaccine campaign that brings flu and Covid-19 to life in the shape of two over-sized monster characters is back with a new push to highlight the ongoing 'twindemic'.
The giant characters were created to demonstrate the disruption that both viruses bring, the health threat they can cause, and the life events they can spoil for people.
The new year push of the campaign launches with additional public facing social media assets, including advice and signposting to the webpage GetMyJabGM.co.uk. By using this link, people can check their eligibility for vaccine and go directly to the national booking system or find local walk-in options.
The new assets can be downloaded via WeTransfer . Please note: this link will expire on 24 January 2023. If you require copies after this time, please email josie.webster@nhs.net.

 Annual leave carry over
As the end of the annual leave year approaches, it is important that any remaining annual leave you have is allocated, and used, by Friday, 31 March, 2023.
The exceptions that allow some carry over annual leave into the next leave year are:
- Where annual leave could not be taken due to maternity or other long-term absences
- In exceptional circumstances, and with Senior Manager agreement, a maximum of 1 week of colleague’s entitlement (pro-rata’d where appropriate) can be carried over.
- Any historic differences in arrangements under TUPE. Details of which can be found on the final page of the Annual & Other Leave Policy.
The form to request Annual Leave carry and the Annual Leave and Other Policy are both available on the intranet.
Please check your own balance as all annual leave will be reset to zero on Saturday, 1 April. If you are a line manager, please encourage team members to check their leave balance too.
Up To Date Personal Details on ESR
A quick reminder to go on ESR to check that your personal details are up to date.
By updating your personal details, including your emergency contacts, this helps us keep you safe, particularly as we work in a hybrid pattern.
We also ask that you update your equality and diversity data as this helps us make sure that we are being fair and that staff from all backgrounds are represented.
Appraisals – Which paperwork should I be using?
It is more important than ever that we are all having good and meaningful conversations. The intranet contains information about the two options available to staff depending on role and team.
Even if you don’t have your appraisal planned, the new year is a good time to think about your goal. There are some great resources to support with this which have also been outlined on the intranet.
Mandatory training
We have been informed by NHS England that Conflict of Interest mandatory training levels 1,2 and 3 have been retired from the E-learning system and there are no plans to provide a replacement conflict of interest training module.
You may receive an automated notification generated by ESR about the removal, but you do not need to take any action.
We are conducting an appraisal on future delivery of Conflict of Interest training and will provide supporting guidance in the meantime.

Five year plan to improve maternity and neonatal services in Greater Manchester
In Greater Manchester, some of our maternity outcome measures are not where we need them to be. Stillbirth rates, for example, increased during the pandemic and we have not yet seen them return to pre-pandemic levels or align with national averages. We know that some people in our region are experiencing disproportionately worse outcomes, based on their circumstances or protected characteristics, such as ethnicity, faith, belief, sexual orientation and disability.
A broad group of stakeholders, including people who use services, have been involved in developing an action plan that describes the things we will do over the next five years to improve maternity outcome measures and address health inequalities in Greater Manchester
A summary of the plan and the full document are available to view on the intranet.

You can read more about the fantastic work that the team are doing on the intranet. If you have any questions or would like to collaborate with the team then contact Lucy Sutcliffe or Nazia Rehman.
