Better Personalised Conversations
The South West Personalised Care and Health Coaching Skills Collaborative are delighted to present this new learning opportunity to develop your personalised conversations skills. This learning is suitable for all colleagues in health, care, social work, voluntary sector, community and all public facing roles.
These workshops will give you further skills to hold better personalised conversations about what matters and is important to people, understand their own strengths and better enable people to act for themselves to live happier, healthier lives, as independently as possible.
The aim of this course is to introduce you to the principles of personalised care and to develop an understanding of the interpersonal skills and dynamics in supported conversations.
As a result of this learning, you will be able to:
- Explain the shifts in the way of working with personalised care.
- Consider the wider culture shift in the health and care system.
- Demonstrate skills by facilitating a personalised conversation.
- Experience a personalised conversation.
- Appreciate the importance of personal health and wellbeing.
- Discuss how personalised care can enable better outcomes for all.
Available dates
The course is carried out over two sessions, both of which need to be attended to complete the course.
Please note this is a ‘test and learn’ of a new shorter course format, so attendance at both sessions, participation and a willingness to give feedback on your experience are very important.

Hot off the Press! Report into Disabled People’s Biggest Concerns!
Inclusion Gloucestershire undertook research in October 2022 with 80 disabled people to find out what their biggest concerns are currently.
The top 5 were:
- Finances (71% of people were either very worried or a little worried)
- Accessing healthcare (64% of people were either very worried or a little worried)
- Accessing support for mental health and wellbeing (54% of people were either very worried or a little worried)
- Housing (52% of people were either very worried or a little worried)
- Accessing information about cost of living (51% of people were either very worried or a little worried)
The research points to the need for secure and appropriate employment opportunities for disabled people, along with the need for advocacy support in many areas of their lives.
You can find the full report, the questions we asked, the data charts and an Easy Read Summary of the top 5 concerns here: https://www.inclusiongloucestershire.co.uk/research-strategy-and-partnerships/
If you have any questions or would like me to come and speak with your organisation about these findings and how we can work together to support disabled people more effectively, please get in touch: Charlie Mitchell, charliem@inclusion-glos.org
My Whole Self 2023
Inclusion Gloucestershire is proud to be supporting My Whole Self 2023, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England’s campaign for workplace culture change.
In 2023 we shouldn't feel like we have to leave parts of our identity behind - be that our cultural or ethnic background, gender identity, sexuality, disability, or health. The My Whole Self campaign calls on organisations to empower employees to bring their whole self to work, whether that be digitally or in person, and support their own and other’s wellbeing. This year we are proud to be a part of this movement.
If you would like to find out more about the campaign and download free resources to help you take part at, visit My Whole Self · MHFA England
If you’d like to share ideas and plans for taking this campaign forward locally, please contact Charlie Mitchell, charliem@inclusion-glos.org.uk
