Dear all,
Gloucestershire’s Homes for Ukraine team would like to wish all of our sponsors and guests a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We have translated this message into Ukrainian and Russian (below), so that it can be shared with your guests.
Thank you for all that you have done to welcome Ukrainian families into Gloucestershire this year. The scheme would not be possible without your support, kindness and generosity.
While Christmas is a time of celebration, we recognise that this period may be a difficult time, especially for those away from their loved ones. We continue to wish for joy and peace for the people of Ukraine, both at Christmas and during the year ahead.

Ukrainian Christmas and New Year
Traditional Christmas in Ukraine starts on 6 January (Christmas Eve in the Julian calendar) and lasts until the Feast of Epiphany on 19 January. However, many Ukrainians celebrate Christmas on 25 December.
New Year’s Eve in Ukraine is celebrated from approximately 20:00 on 31 December, through to morning on January 1. The Ukrainian President traditionally gives a speech on national TV channels, which is likely to also be available online this year. This is followed by the ringing of bells at 00:00 Ukrainian time (22:00 UK time). In Ukraine, New Year is a festive time of celebration, while Christmas is a more religious holiday.
The following websites provide more detail about Christmas in Ukraine, including information about traditional Christmas meals.
Many thanks again for everything that you are doing, and please do not hesitate to get in touch with the Homes for Ukraine team at hfuteam@gloucestershire.gov.uk if you have any questions or require further support.
Best wishes, Homes for Ukraine team
