A new system has been set up for when children leave one educational setting at the end of a phase to be home educated, for example, early years to primary or primary to secondary. This is a system that is currently not in place, however with the new statutory requirements set out in the Children Not In School consultation it will become ever more necessary. It also ensures that no children are left without oversight of their education. Further details are available on the Bulletin Board at the above link.
Governance
Headteacher’s Performance Management and Appraisal, 2022/23
At the start of the new academic year, governing boards will be making arrangements to undertake their headteachers’ appraisal.
Under the Education (School Teachers’ Appraisal) (England) Regulations 2012, governing boards have a statutory duty to appoint an external adviser for advice and support on the headteacher’s appraisal. Officers from the LA’s Education, Outcomes and Intervention team are available to act as this external adviser. The External Adviser provides impartial, professional support for the process of headteacher appraisal, attends the meeting during which governors review progress to the previous year’s objectives and agree new objectives for the coming year, and can prepare the written appraisal report. This service can be purchased as a traded service from GCC+ (www.businesssupportservices.org), or can be completed as one of your visits if your school subscribes to the GLOSSI level 1 package.
