Please see the Bulletin Board at the above link for a template Warn and Inform letter, which you may want to use and adapt if you have a positive Covid-19 case in your setting. This has been requested by some schools but there is no requirement to use it. It is intended for the purpose of providing reassurance to parents.
For the October half-term, Gloucestershire County Council is providing vouchers to parents who have signed up to the Holiday Free School Meals scheme. The vouchers are funded through COVID-19 grant funding and is separate to that of the mainstream free school meals. Further information is available on the Bulletin Board at the above link.
All Schools
Pupil premium guidance has been updated and includes a new template that schools MUST use and publish on their websites by 31 December 2021. On 8 September, the Department for Education (DfE) released further guidance about how schools can apply for Academic Mentors and Tuition Partners for this academic year. Links to the full guidance along with some key differences to the offer from last year are available on the Bulletin Board at the above link.
Black History Month (BHM) is coming soon and we want to make sure that schools are ready to join GCC in supporting this important campaign. We want your pupils to get involved by either designing a poster or sharing their stories of why they are proud to be black and who inspires them. The Bulletin Board at the above link has further details.
Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) can lead to educational problems for pupils in later life. But, Gloucestershire County Council’s trauma informed approach to dealing with ACEs can help to support pupils with additional needs. Secondary
The military children’s charity, Little Troopers has new free resources launching this term as part of their Little Troopers at School programme. The resources are specifically for secondary schools to help support children age 11-18 with a parent serving in the British Armed Forces. To find out more visit the Bulletin Board at the above link.
Governance
New course - The revised EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage)
This training for governors provides an introduction to the revised Early Years Foundation stage (EYFS) including suggestions for supporting headteachers to enable the best EYFS practice in governor-led Pre school / Nursery settings and in Reception classes. We will explore quality assurance of the Good Level of Development (GLD) and how this fits the new EYFS landscape. We will look at the benefits of governor-run provision in primary schools to children and families, and benefits to the school – and share some of Gloucestershire’s success stories.’
