Gloucestershire's Partnership Board Bulletin
Mental Health Awareness Week
|
|
Welcome to Mental Health Awareness Week (10 to 16 May 2021) in this special series of Partnership Board bulletins.
This year, the theme is nature. Find out from the Mental Health Foundation why nature is the theme for this week here.
As well as today’s newsletter, we’ll be sending out another 2 on Wednesday and Friday, so make sure you look out for those too!
Today’s newsletter will focus on adult mental health and wellbeing.
An easy-read version of this bulletin will be available on our website next week.
Read the press release here to see what One Gloucestershire’s partners are doing to raise awareness about mental health and the support that is available in the county as part of the Be Well Gloucestershire campaign.

Hannah has very kindly allowed us to share her personal story of how getting out into nature with Teddy the dog helped with her recovery from illness. Read more about this here. |
Forest bathing, or shinrin-yoku, is simply spending time outdoors under the canopy of trees. In Japanese, “shinrin” means forest and “yoku” means bath, or immersing oneself in the forest and soaking in the atmosphere through the senses. Started in Japan, the practice has been widely adopted in the UK. The National Trust has produced a beginner’s guide which includes details of walks, which you can read here.

Learn more about Noor’s experience during lockdown and how taking time to notice the flowers on her daily walk helped her.

- People with experience of serious mental illness will be involved with reshaping of services
- People will be able to access mental health care when and where they need it
- Care will be personalised to someone’s needs
- Care will be provided by services that talk to each other, so that moving through the ‘system’ is easier
- Mental health and physical health will be thought about together
