Scheme update - road closures

7 August 2020

B4063 closure

The B4063 arm of Arle Court roundabout will be closed for five nights, 10 - 14 August over night between 8pm and 6am. This is so crews can continue to divert utilities and remove the island here.

A signed diversion will be in place.

Arle Court round about lane closures

Arle Court roundabout will be down to one lane overnight on 10 August so crews can work safely on site.

Please remember there is a speed limit of 40mph on the Golden Valley Bypass at the moment. This is to keep crews safe who are working in the central reservation.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Please contact the site team if you have any concerns:

Construction update from Knights Brown

Firstly we would like to thank you all for your patience and the warm welcome we have received over the last month while we have been setting up our site and starting prep work for the project. It has been a busy and positive start to the project even with the added challenges that Covid-19 has brought us all. We would like to reassure you that our works are being delivered in line with Covid-19 government guidelines.

Over the past month we have completed a number of key preparatory tasks which will pave the way for the future work that is to be completed. Our site offices and compound have now been installed and will be our base for the duration of the scheme.

We have begun to install traffic management measures which will enable us to keep you and our workforce safe throughout the project. To complete the works we have also had to close the subway under the A40 by Arle Court roundabout. Please follow the designated diversion route as it has been put in place to keep you safe.

We will also be putting in place a temporary bus stop on the A40 east bound from the 27 June. The new bus stop will be situated approximately 100m east of the original bus stop.

Other key areas of work that have been completed include:

  • service and utility diversions (gas, electricity, broadband)
  • site clearance works on the B4063
  • demolition of the existing footbridge Fiddlers Green Lane to the A40
  • drainage works on Arle Court Roundabout
  • prep work for the piling works required for the road widening and subway works on the A40.

We have also completed night works at Hatherley Lane and on the A40 over the last week. These works enabled us to remove the splitter island and install a cable crossing across the road at Hatherley Lane and install traffic barriers and narrow lanes as part of our traffic management measures on the A40.

  • Hatherley Lane – Service diversions and excavation work will begin for the new road construction
  • B4063 – Footpath diversions, service and utility diversions and road excavation works
  • A40 – Excavation and new road construction
