Scheme update

2 April 2020

COVID-19 position

We want to reassure you that we are working with our highways contractors in Gloucestershire to protect all staff, following government and industry guidance regarding COVID-19 and construction work.

We are making progress with the West Cheltenham Transport Improvement Scheme using the principles of social distancing and working remotely. We expect work to start in early Summer 2020. If this changes we will issue another scheme update.

Next stage feedback request

We want to hear what you think about our plans for the next stage of the West Cheltenham Transport Improvement Scheme (WCTIS).

In 2021 we plan to significantly improve facilities for cyclists and pedestrians travelling from Arle Court to Cheltenham Railway Station, along with widening the A40 eastbound and Benhall Roundabout. This part of the scheme is shown in blue on the map below.

Please look at our proposals here and then complete the feedback form, which we will use to inform the design of the scheme and the business case.

Please send this message on to anyone who you think would be interested in these important improvements in Cheltenham. They can sign up to receive future news bulletins about this scheme too.

Thank you for your help.
