Welcome

This third edition of the GSPP newsletter follows the workshop held on 24th May where forum partners were updated on the work of the sub-groups and other developments across the partnership and had the opportunity to hear updates from partners on the work they are doing to help prevent suicide and raise awareness through a “Share & Learn” session.

The Communications & Engagement group  is setting up a ‘toolkit’ of resources for partners to use, including posters/leaflets, social media ‘assets’ and signposting information that will be hosted on the GCC website. The Frequently Used Locations group focussed on car parks and multi-storey buildings; representatives from district councils and car park operators attended and we shared guidance from Public Health England and best practice, and those attending offered support to each other. The next focus will be on railways.

Updates on recent developments included the PABBS training (see below) and a new GP Lead role to help develop capacity and skills for suicide prevention in primary care.

Share & Learn updates included looking at improving services for children bereaved by suicide through the Winston Churchill Fellowship by Liz Koole, the Stay Alive app licensed for use by the 2gether Trust, the Letters of Hope project by the 2gether Trust, and debt support advice for mental health by Stroud & Cotswold Citizens Advice.

We hope to hold more Share & Learn sessions, so if you’d like to share your updates with the forum, or would like to hear more about a project please get in touch!
