 Green Care for You
73% of carers say that being more physically active makes them feel good about themselves. But as a carer it can be tricky to find time to look after your own wellbeing. To help carers in our communities enjoy moving more in nature, we’d love you to support our new campaign: Green Care for You.
Green Care for You, led by Carers UK through its Sport England funded Carers Active programme and the gardening for health charity, Thrive, is a two‑week journey, from Monday 22 June - Monday 6 July, for unpaid carers who would like to be active while reconnecting with nature in small, everyday ways. It’s about finding ways to take a moment with nature that fits around caring routines.
When carers sign up, they’ll get:
- a free pack of micro-greens (for the first 250 people to register)
- prompts every other day for seven simple nature inspired activities
- flexible activity options that can take two, five or 20 minutes
- activities you can do indoors or outdoors
- ideas using everyday household items
- access to a live online kick-off session (with recording available).
There are so many benefits for carers...
- Improved mental health: A quiet moment of reflection in a hectic day and the feeling of being grounded by the nature you notice around you.
- Better physical health: The opportunity to be more active and build strength in a low pressure, relaxed and often gentle way.
- More understanding and knowledge: Learn tips and tricks about how you can connect with nature, in your own home, garden or local green space.
No garden? No tools? No problem!
You don’t need a garden to take part. Everyone is welcome.
Every Green Care for You activity includes an option that can be done inside your home.
Many activities require no equipment at all, and every activity includes a version using items commonly found around the house.
If you currently receive carers’ information in the post, or if someone has forwarded this information on to you, we would be very grateful if you could provide an email address, so you do not miss out on opportunities to apply for funding or attend an appropriate training course, for example.
Note: If you have received this email from us, you do not need to provide your email address.
