Over the next few months we will regularly attend the locations listed below. If you are local to the area, please feel free to pop down and chat to us about your unpaid caring role.

Cardiff and the Vale Regional Partnership Board Short breaks (respite) schemes
Over the summer a variety of local charity or community groups have been funded by the Regional Partnership Board to support carers to take a short break.
These are in addition to the nationally funded schemes that can be found online at www.shortbreaksscheme.wales
10 different organisations are funded to provide a variety of support to adult unpaid carers, the funded organisations are:
AP Cymru
AP Cymru provide support and guidance across Wales for neurodivergent children and young people as well as their support networks including any unpaid carers. They are providing a variety of wellbeing and physical activity opportunities over the summer. To find out more contact AP Cymru via their website:

Butetown Community Centre
Butetown Community Centre provides a range of support for residents at the heart of the Wales most ethnically diverse community. They have been given funds to support their Unpaid Carers Café and Craft peer support group. They will be offering targeted coaching support for a variety of issues, additional fully funded activities, and vouchers for short breaks (like a spa day) as well as subsidised support to access fresh food via their community pantry.

CAER Carers Club (part of ACE)
Based in Ely and Caerau at the CAER Heritage Centre on Church Road, Caerau. They have applied for funding to support Unpaid Carers with access to fresh food, evenings out together and other vouchers to support unpaid carers on low incomes to access paid for service that provide a break and respite like ‘Headspace’ or stream services.
You can self-refer by joining the group at one of their weekly sessions on a Tuesday from 10-11:30am or you can call ACE on 02920 003 132 or email caerheritage@aceplace.org.
Cardiff and Vale Parents Federation
Offer free support services for unpaid family carers who support someone with a learning disability or additional learning need. They support through the whole life cycle. They have funding to provide free wellbeing events, walking groups and meals out amongst other plans. Opportunities are advertised via their social media page and monthly news letter. Challenge Wales
Provide opportunities for young adults to broaden their horizons and learn new skills. They want to support younger carers aged 12-25 and have been funded to provider a variety of shore based ‘Sea and Tell’ shore based activity sessions and an opportunity for up to 8 younger carers to complete a Day voyage on their ship challenge Wales. Forget-me-not Chorus!
Support both those caring for and those living with dementia with inclusive sessions using music and singing to improve wellbeing. They have funding to support their 3 face-to-face groups in Cardiff and an online group. Details of the groups are available on their website including contact details for the session leaders.

Carers Club @ Glenwood Church and Wellbeing Centre
A safe space where everyone is support regardless of their faith or no-faith, the centre offers carers club every Tuesday from 10am-12pm to provide peer support. They have applied for funding to be able to ‘Care for Carers’ and offer greater support to group attendees including activities like yoga as well as vouchers for other opportunities outside the weekly group. Moss Rose Cottage
Provide a supportive environment to people with non-visible barriers and those who care for them. They create peer support networks for those with non-viable barriers and their carers so support last beyond the initial intervention at Moss Rose Cottage. They have been funded to provide additional support to carers of the people they support by providing free fun, physical and emotional wellbeing activities. Voices/Adfocad
Are a new charity aiming to support carers with peer support “Soup and a Slice” groups and they have some funding to support those attending with their travel costs. There will be nutritious homemade vegan soup and cake and drinks in a safe environment for you to take a break and make new connections with people who are also providing unpaid care.

With Music in Mind
Similar to the forget-me-not Corus but based within the Vale they have been funded to support those caring for someone with dementia through singing groups, they also provide refreshments and another activity like a quiz. Details on their website: https://www.withmusicinmind.co.uk/

Family Information Service Launches Summer 2024 Activity Programme
From free drop-in sessions, library activities and sports camps, there’s lots of activities for families and children to take part in this summer.
Working in partnership with organisations across the Vale, the FIS team have put together a calendar of events suitable for children and young people up to the age of 25, alongside a number of family activities.
The Summer 2024 Activity Programme kicks off on Monday 22nd July and will run throughout summer until Sunday 1st September.
As mentioned, there is a range of both free and paid activities to partake in.
Our Vale libraries will be hosting a number of free or inexpensive story and craft events every day this summer.
The programme will be regularly updated with new and exciting activities, so be sure to check back.

Mae Canolfan Gymunedol Butetown yn darparu cymorth amrywiol i drigolion, yng nghanol cymuned fwyaf ethnig amrywiol Cymru. Maent wedi cael arian i gefnogi eu Caffi Gofalwyr Di-dâl a'u grŵp Crefft cymorth cyfoedion. Byddant yn cynnig cymorth hyfforddi wedi'i dargedu ar gyfer amrywiaeth o faterion, gweithgareddau ychwanegol wedi'u hariannu'n llawn, a thalebau ar gyfer seibiant byr (fel diwrnod spa) yn ogystal â chymorth â chymhorthdal i gael gafael ar fwyd ffres drwy eu pantri cymunedol.

Gwasanaethau Gwybodaeth i Deuluoedd yn Lansio Rhaglen Gweithgareddau Haf 2024
O sesiynau galw heibio am ddim i wersylloedd chwaraeon wythnos o hyd, mae llawer o weithgareddau i deuluoedd a phlant gymryd rhan ynddynt yr haf hwn.
Gan weithio mewn partneriaeth â sefydliadau ledled y Fro, mae’r tîm Gwasanaeth Gwybodaeth i Deuluoedd wedi llunio calendr o ddigwyddiadau sy'n addas ar gyfer plant a phobl ifanc hyd at 25 oed, ochr yn ochr â nifer o weithgareddau teuluol.
Bydd Rhaglen Gweithgareddau Haf 2024 yn cychwyn ddydd Sadwrn 22 Gorffennaf a bydd yn rhedeg trwy gydol yr haf tan 01 Medi.
Fel y soniwyd, mae amrywiaeth o weithgareddau am ddim ac â thâl i gymryd rhan ynddynt.
Bydd Llyfrgelloedd y Fro yn cynnal nifer o ddigwyddiadau adrodd straeon a chrefft am ddim neu am bris rhesymol bob dydd yn ystod yr haf.
Mae yna hefyd nifer o wersylloedd chwaraeon wythnos o hyd fel tennis a nofio yn ogystal, dosbarthiadau dawns, a sesiynau blasu y gall plant a phobl ifanc ymuno â nhw.
Bydd y rhaglen yn cael ei diweddaru'n rheolaidd gyda gweithgareddau newydd, cyffrous, felly cofiwch edrych.
