'Real' trees are recyclable and can be shredded into chippings which are then used locally in parks or woodland areas.

Nightingale House Hospice offer a free collection service for real Christmas trees in return for a donation towards patient care at the hospice. To book a collection, please visit nightingalehouse.co.uk/tree or call 01978 314292.

Remember to remove all tinsel and decorations and any pots or stands.

Artificial trees are made from a combination of materials and therefore cannot be recycled. Unwanted trees in good condition may be accepted by some charity shops for re-sale and re-use.

Waste and recycling collections during the holidays

There will be no collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day.
