Music has been important to us all during the last four months, keeping us going through the lockdown. As students return to full-time education, Essex Music Services are ready to continue to support all schools deliver high quality Music Education.

As we resume our fortnightly newsletter,  we have been working hard to ensure our full school offer is back in operation. Our risk assessment has been reviewed and approved to ensure safe delivery of work in the new term.

Free Regional Conference goes online!

Free Musical development for LAC/PLAC students

Instruments

If you have Looked After Children (LAC) or Post Looked After Children (PLAC) in your school, thanks to the Virtual School, funding is available until July 2021 to support with musical development. 

The funding available can deliver a free music provision to a specific LAC or PLAC individually, or you may find it more appropriate and inclusive to deliver a group or whole class activity that involves the LAC or PLAC. It may be possible to deliver provision online at this time, depending on the need of your setting.   More information is available on this link.


Online music resources supporting Key Stages 1 - 5

All of our online music resources supporting the music curriculum for Key Stages 1 - 5, are now available in one place - our E-learning package. Just £100 covers access to all of the resources for an academic year and access to CPD training. Click here to view the latest free CPD sessions

Online Community Music Centres

While our 13 Community Music Centres are temporarily closed due to Covid-19 restrictions, we are delighted to announce that registration for our Autumn 2020 online Community Music Centre lessons is now open.

Lessons are delivered via Microsoft Teams - watch and listen to a lesson here

If you are looking to renew your request for instrumental tuition in or out of school, please visit our website to update your request.


Online Music Clubs

Music Groups

We have also launched registration for our weekly Online Music Clubs. You don't have to be having lessons, now you can join our weekly music groups from wherever you are in the County!  Choose from a variety of sessions including Songwriting, Music Technology, Music Theory and more!  With prices starting from £20 for 10 group sessions.  Click here to see where music could take you this term!

Secondary School Webinar - join Focus on Sound on 9 September at 7.30pm for a general introduction including best practices, creating custom lessons and tests. Register on the link above. 

Primary School CPD online sessions with Charanga are now open for booking:-

Introduction to Charanga on 21 September, Why use Charanga Musical School on 2 November and Diving Deep into Charanga on 14 December. These sessions are free to all schools who have joined our 2020 - 2021 E-learning package

Kids Megasong Premiere - Hear the magnificent megasong created by a group of Essex children during workshops in August. Click on the above link to hear the event which takes place at 7pm this evening.

Instrument hiring - did you know we hire instruments at competitive prices and can deliver them directly to your school?  Lower hire prices are also available for those who qualify for our Tuition Discount scheme. 

Assisted Instrument Purchase & Interest Free Instrument loans - in addition to hiring instruments we also offer assistance in buying your own! 

Benedetti Foundation's September Sessions are now open including Virtual Mini Sessions for young musicians, music students, teachers and adult learners and its first ever Virtual Chamber Music Sessions for strings and pianists. 

Guildhall Hall supported application 2021 - 350 places will be available for all undergraduate programmes for 2021 entry.  Click on the link above for more info on eligibility and the available courses.

Lo-fi Hip Hop tutorials and competition Charanga VIP Studio sessions has a new set of tutorials focusing on the Lo-Fi Hip Hop genre and also a competition. Find out more and how to enter on the link above. Competition ends 31 October 2020.
