My band

Essex Music Education Hub has again partnered with Bassistry to offer a fantastic two-day holiday course where 11 – 18 year olds can try out song writing, performing, forming a band and recording. The course is open to all young musicians playing any instrument!

Hear and read what happened at the last 2-day course and, for just £40, book your places for the next course on  Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 February.

Rap-It! workshops "...the most engaging workshop we’ve ever had!"


Rap-It! workshops introduce pupils to the world of rap, hip-hop, grime and spoken word. These sessions are a perfect way to develop confidence in pupils, enhancing and linking to the music curriculum, and exploring creative literacy.

ReelMusic Launches in Essex


ReelMusic, part of the E-learning package provided by Essex Music Education Hub to subscribing schools, is launching after Half-term.

This software is a CPD package providing access to a whole community of musicians and specialists. To gain access to this software click here.

Saffron CMC Flutes

Saffron Centre for Young Musicians (SCYM) takes place on Saturdays formed in a partnership with Essex Music Services, Guildhall School, Saffron Hall and Saffron Walden County High School.

Did you know that we have County Jazz Groups for all abilities? There are groups for beginners, intermediate and advanced playing strings, brass, woodwind and percussion.

You can hear the Essex Youth Jazz Orchestra perform music from the swing era at a free concert at Marigolds in Harlow on Sunday 1st March.

Free Colchester Jazz Voices

Ronnie Scott

Funding from Ronnie Scott’s Charitable Foundation has made the Colchester Jazz Voices possible. All young singers are invited to attend a free Colchester's Community Music Centre on Saturday mornings to engage in a weekly free opportunity, initially focusing on Jazz singing. 

Emma Sweeney, Jazz singing specialist, will teach how to sing jazz style, how to improvise and scat-sing and sing parts in close harmony. Contact - Andy Heard  07827 233605 for more details. 

Royal Opera House's Create & Sing comes to Essex


Create and Sing offers free training and resources, enabling teachers to explore and create opera in the classroom.

Teachers develop skills in singing, drama, storytelling, characterisation and music. No musical training is required.

Free CPD Twilight sessions ....


Preparing for an Ofsted Deep Dive in Music for Primary Schools - the final two free CPD courses take place on 25th February in Saffron Walden and 26th February in Harlow.

Practical skill progression - a free twilight CPD taking place in Benfleet on 2nd March 2020. Focusing on practical skills in assisting to perform, explore and create music.

BBC Ten Pieces Creative Catalyst CPD  Are you a KS2 teacher who wants new ideas and inspiration for getting creative with classical music?  Find out about a free CPD in London on 18th March.

Charanga and O-Generator CPD Training - these are free to all schools who have a current subscription to our E-Learning Package.

Young musicians making music!


Come along and enjoy a free concert at Marigolds in Harlow when the young musicians of the Essex Youth Jazz Orchestra perform music from the swing era on Sunday 1st March.

Sound and Music Summer School 2020 applications are now open!  This week-long residential course for 14 - 18 year old helps develop musical creativity.

Young Composers Award 2020  The National Centre for Early Music Award is now open to young composers up to the age of 25. Composers are invited to create a new polyphonic work for an unaccompanied choir.
