A unique Jazz concert for Colchester School children


On the 24 October children from Colchester Academy, Market Field, Unity Academy and Willow Brook Primary School took part in a jazz day generously funded by Ronnie Scott's Charitable Foundation and Essex Music Services.

Find out how over 500 Colchester children experienced live jazz music, the workshops and the concert.  

Ronnie Scott's - Colchester Jazz Voices


Funding from Ronnie Scott’s Charitable Foundation has made the Colchester Jazz Voices possible. All young singers are invited to attend Colchester's Community Music Centre on Saturday mornings to engage in a weekly free opportunity, initially focusing on Jazz singing. 

Emma Sweeney, Jazz singing specialist, will teach how to sing jazz style, how to improvise and scat-sing and sing parts in close harmony. Contact - Andy Heard  07827 233605 

All-Party Parliamentary Group for Music Education

John Hutchings, Schools’ Instrumental Music Lead Officer, attended the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Music Education where discussions included the Durham Commission, Music Hubs and the impact of Brexit on Musicians.

Focus on Witham Community Music Centre


Essex Music Service runs a network of community music centres throughout the County where young musicians of any experience can play together in bands, music groups and sing in choirs.

Fife Club


Join our new Fife Club!  Fifes provide a great introduction to taking up the flute and an excellent and fun way to begin learning an instrument and build musicianship skills. Fife Club takes place on Tuesday evenings at Maldon Community Music Centre based at Plume Academy.  Contact Fiona Hill
