Young Musicians fly the Essex flag in Germany

Essex Youth Orchestra and Essex Youth Jazz Orchestra raised the roof at their homecoming concert in Chelmsford after their recent tour of Germany.

In late August the young musicians toured the Harz region of Germany and performed a series of concerts to packed and enthusiastic audiences and the accolades have been flooding in .... 


Vulnerable Young Person Fund - Call out to Schools

Essex Music Services has received funding from Youth Music to provide music engagement to young people who are at risk of being removed from mainstream education.

If you have individuals in your school who are struggling within education, please get in touch with us as we may be able to fully fund a musical provision within your schools. Email us musichub@essex.gov.uk or 'phone 0333 013 8953

The funding received is part of a partnership called MusicNet East.

 


Music Mark Membership

Music mark

All schools who were invited for Music Mark membership will receive a package week beginning 16 September containing information needed regarding your new membership. Please do tweet about what you receive!

Should you have missed the deadline to respond to the invitation, please send in your reply to us, and we will liaise with Music Mark to get your membership confirmed at the earliest time possible.

Due to the size of our county, there will be a second round of invitations that will go out to primary schools during this term, so look out for the invitation which will arrive by email.


Free Skoog for Special School colleagues

Receive training on a Skoog, the electronic musical instrument designed to be inclusive and accessible. All Special school colleagues will receive a  FREE Skoog. (All teachers are welcome to attend but free Skoogs are only available for Special Schools.) Places are limited so please rush to register for Skoog training.


New E-Learning package

Charanga, O-Generator, VIP Studio Sessions, Focus on Sound, Songwriter and coming soon, Reel Music support KS1–5 music curriculum. As part of our new offer, all of these resources have now been transferred to our E-learning package.

To continue to have access to any or all of the above for this academic year, an invoice of £100 will soon be sent to your school. New users to the resources are invited to subscribe through Book-It!

Music Co-ordinators course, October 10, 2019 This course is for those new or looking for refreshed thinking as a Music Co-ordinator. The course is heavily subsidised from £140 to £40 by us.

Free Singing Opportunity

New for this term -  attend a regular weekly free singing opportunity. Based at Colchester Community Music Centre this class takes place on Saturday mornings in term time from 11.30am and initially focuses on Jazz singing. Find out more about this free singing opportunity 

Ronnie Scott’s Charitable Foundation has provided funding to offer weekly singing and instrumental opportunities to young people in Colchester.

In addition to the above,  a number of schools in Colchester will also benefit from this funding. More news on that will follow in later editions of this newsletter. 


Crowdfunding for Colchester Townhouse

In partnership with Colchester Townhouse Sessions, we are running a fundraising campaign to support the fantastic work they do in championing Youth Music and enabling young people to perform.

Opportunities for Young Musicians

Jazz academy are auditioning on 22 September. Here is an opportunity learn how to express yourself musically and be part of an jazz group. 

MyBand is a fantastic song-writing, playing, performing, recording 2-day holiday course for 11 - 18 year olds. The course is open to all young musicians playing any instruments. The next course takes place on 28 and 29 October 2019 at Becket Keys in Brentwood. Look out for more information in our next newsletter. Hear what happened at previous MyBand courses. 

Young Sax soloist competition Are you a sax teacher, or a young performer, or know someone who is? If so, find out more about the competition.  Deadline for first round is 15 October 2019.

Community Music Centres

Our  Community Music Centres offer young musicians of any experience opportunities to play together in bands, music groups and sing in choirs. Some Centres are still to start this term eg Chelmsford (18 Sept), Brentwood (19 Sept) Colchester (21 Sept) and Epping Forest (25 Sept).
