Refreshed Effective Support for Children and Families in Essex Guidance (July 2017)

Refreshed Effective Support for Children and Families in Essex Guidance

July 2017

The Essex Safeguarding Children Board is pleased to inform you that that it has updated the ESCB Effective Support for Children and Families in Essex Guidance.

Designed for all who work with children, young people and their families in Essex, the document has been updated to reflect current practice in Essex.

Key changes include:

  • Change of name to the Children and Families Hub (previously the Family Operations Hub)
  • The Children and Families Request for Support form has replaced the Family Operations Request for Support (FORS) form
  • Inclusion of Child Sexual Exploitation, Missing Children, Trafficking and Prevent in the levels of need
  • An expectation that agencies will work alongside families using Early Help assessment and planning tools prior to escalating to intensive and statutory services (unless the child is at risk of suffering significant harm)

Effective Support Launch Events

Launch events (now fully booked) are being held during July across the county to highlight the key changes.

These will also provide an opportunity to identify future learning needs, which can be addressed through Stay Safe Groups or other local forums, or on a countywide basis through ESCB.

If you are attending an event, we ask that you please share information on the updates with your colleagues.

The presentation used at the launch events will be made available at the end of July on the ESCB website. There will also be further events planned in autumn.

The Effective Support Guidance can be accessed here and also on the Concerns About the Welfare of a Child page, where you can find all the relevant documents.
