Consultations – have your say...

About Residential Services & Southview Day Service

We want to hear what you think about our plan to change the way we provide our learning disability residential and day services in the Crowborough area.

We are proposing to:

  1. Provide a new residential service from one site in Crowborough.
  2. Include a day service on the ground floor of the new building in Crowborough.

The residential services provided at Greenacres, Beacongate and The Gables would move to the new site, as would the day services provided at Southview.

We need to make sure that services are good value for money and the best they can be. We think our plans are the best way of doing that, but we want to know what you think and whether you have any other ideas.

We've been meeting with residents of the Residential Services and their families and carers in February and March. We will be meeting with people who use the Southview Day Service and their families and carers in April.

The consultation closes on 13 May 2016.

Consultation results

Your views on our plan for the Community Support Service

We wanted to know what people thought of our plan to ask people to pay for the community support service (the service helps people to be more independent). People would only pay if they could afford to.

Read the results summary or download an easy read summary

As a result of the consultation we made some changes to our plan:

  • We were planning to ask people to pay from April 2016. Now, if you have to pay, we will ask you to start paying in July 2016 instead of April 2016.
  • We have sent everyone who uses the service a copy of the cancellation policy that will apply from July 2016.
  • We agreed that people should pay less for group support in the community. We have set a lower cost for group support.

The Lead Member for Adult Social Care considered our revised plan and what people had told us in the consultation on 31 March. It was decided that we will go ahead with the plan to charge for the community support service.

Your views on developing services to support people with long-term health and physical conditions

We wanted to hear about your experiences of managing a long-term health condition, such as diabetes, stroke, heart failure and respiratory conditions, or any kind of physical condition that has an impact on how you live your daily life. We are using what you told us to plan the focus groups.

We will provide a summary of the results in the next issue of Get Involved.
