As Covid-19 cases rise across the UK, we all need to do our bit to prevent the spread of infection.

With Government guidance constantly changing and local areas facing their own restrictions, it can be confusing to know what you’re supposed to be doing.

So here’s a recap of everything you need to know about the situation in East Sussex, face coverings, how to be prepared for further Covid-19 restrictions, plus how to socialise Covid-19 style: Help prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Ever wondered what happens to your recycling after it has been collected? Where is it reprocessed and how can we be sure where it ends up?

If you watched the BBC’s War On Plastic, you probably have asked yourself these questions. The image of mountains of plastic in illegal dumpsites in Malaysia is not what you want to envision when putting out the recycling.

Working together to prevent suicide

About 1 in 4 people experience mental health problems each year, so most of us will know someone who has struggled with their mental health.

Whether you are concerned for someone else, or in need of support yourself, preventingsuicideinsussex.org has been launched to provide support for those in need.

As well as knowing where to go for help, it is also important to know what to look out for if you are worried about someone – Be alert, be honest, listen, and get them help if required. There is a range of help and useful advice available.

Papers

No new savings are being planned for next year’s council budget.This is despite the unprecedented financial pressures of the Covid-19 response.

New adoption campaign launched. #YouCanAdopt has been launched to tackle misconceptions around who is eligible and encourage more people to consider adopting.

All East Sussex libraries set to open next month. The remaining libraries will open from October 19 after a positive customer response to the measures in place at five facilities which reopened in July. 

Rural broadband scheme given connectivity boost. East Sussex County Council has invested £500,000 to support the Government’s Rural Gigabit Voucher scheme, which helps businesses and residents in rural areas to access fast and reliable broadband.

Views sought on The Keep's opening time proposals. The public would be able to visit the archive centre five days a week still under the proposals.
