A one-off garden waste collection has been announced for Elmbridge. Look out for an email or letter letting you know the date of your collection, which will be either the week of 1 November or week of 8 November, depending on your location in the borough. Elmbridge celebrates its local businesses
Residents have voted again for their favourite shop, salon, restaurant and café in our annual independent retailer awards. These past twelve months our high streets and independent traders have shown once again why they are so valued in the community. We are pleased to announce that Paull's Fruit and Veg in Thames Ditton has been crowned the Elmbridge Independent Retailer of the Year for 2021. Winners have also been announced across eight categories and showcase the businesses who have gone above and beyond.
How to take part in Remembrance this year
Elmbridge will be marking Armistice Day (11 November) and Remembrance Sunday (14 November) with events across the borough. Details are available on our website, and if we are informed of any other parades or events in Elmbridge we will add them here.
Forestry works underway
We are currently carrying out thinning works on areas of Esher common as part of our 25-year management plan with the Forestry Commission; and in compliance with their best practice guidelines to thin woodland every 25 to 30 years. This is to:
- ensure that the variety of habitats we have locally are maintained in a healthy condition
- improve light penetration to encourage the growth of native young saplings and a wide variety of flora through natural regeneration
- provide the best biodiversity opportunities for the wildlife and amenity for residents.
