Download the app, protect the NHS, save lives
The NHS COVID-19 app launched today and will help the national test and trace effort and support those businesses that are required to collect customer data.
The app uses your phone to detect other app users nearby, and the NHS will let you know if you have been near someone who has developed symptoms.
The app will:
- inform you of rising rates in your postcode area
- alert you if you’ve been in contact with someone who has tested positive (even if you don’t know them)
- provide a ‘checking in’ function based on QR codes displayed in venues and public spaces
- allow you to check your symptoms, and book a test if you need one
Your identity is not shared with other app users and the NHS will protect your identity as all information is stored securely.
Download the app now and find out more about what the app does.
Remember, we all need to play our part to protect the NHS test and trace service for those who really need it, so:
- If you have COVID-19 symptoms, you must get a test
- If you don’t have symptoms, don’t get a test
