Welcome to the April edition of Green Steps. This month you can get advice on whether a heat pump will work for your home, get together with your community for a climate grant and take action for Earth Day. We hope you find it useful!

One of the key benefits of a heat pump is their incredible ability to run more effectively than a traditional boiler – three times in fact. That means you’re pumping up to 70% less CO2 into the environment and your local area than a gas boiler would.
Many heat pump owners say the real difference is comfort. Unlike older boilers, which cycle between blasts of heat and cool periods, heat pumps deliver a steady, consistent warmth throughout the day – creating a cosier, more comfortable home.
The government is currently providing grants of £7,500 towards the cost of moving to a heat pump.
Petersfield Climate Action Network (PeCAN) is holding a free talk in Petersfield on whether a heat pump is right for your home on Wednesday (15 April) and you can book your place through their website.

East Hampshire community groups can now apply to Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks’ Powering Communities to Net Zero fund.
Half the fund (with a total value of £3million) is made available to enable communities to apply for grants that will bolster community-led physical and environmental resilience measures. The other half is for non-profit organisations to apply for grants to go towards the purchase of new low-carbon technologies.
To find out more, visit the website. They’re hosting a webinar at 12.30pm on 21 April with information to help your application.
The deadline for applications is noon on Thursday 21 May 2026.
