Welcome to our February bulletin! This month’s green steps are about showing love for nature, trees and electrical things you’d otherwise throw away.

Signs of spring are starting to appear in East Hampshire’s beautiful countryside. The RHS wants your help recording where and when you see daffodils blooming. Join the RHS Daffodil Diaries through their website.
To help you connect with nature, Alton Climate Action Network (ACAN) is hosting guided ecology walks from 2-3.30pm on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 February in Anstey Park.
The Eco-Streets walks will last for 60-90 minutes, are informative, family friendly and are led by Scott Gudrich, ACAN’s Eco-streets project manager. Meet outside Alton Rugby Club at 2pm.

In the UK, we discard 103,000 tonnes of electricals every year, instead of reusing or recycling them.
Binning electricals means that the raw materials like gold, copper, aluminium and steel can’t be used again and will need to be produced again for your new kit. If we all recycled our old electricals, we could cut as much CO2 as taking 3.8 million cars off the road (recycleyourelectricals.org.uk).
If your electricals still work, you could sell them second hand or pass them on to a charity.
If they’re broken, you could get them fixed (or learn to fix them yourself) at a repair cafe.
If they’re beyond repair, recycle them at your local tip (Household Waste Recycling Centre).
