This Great Big Green Week (8-16 June), organised by The Climate Coalition, the theme is about making swaps to help the environment.
You could:
- Swap driving to school for a walk or cycle ride
- Swap one meal in your week for a vegetarian option
- Swap your bank to an ethical one
- Swap toys at PeCAN’s Petersfield Toy Swap, dropping your toys off until Friday 14 June and selecting a replacement on Saturday 15 June
- Swap single-use bottles to refillable, reusable ones
And many, many more.

It’s also Bike Week (10-16 June), run by Cycling UK. This year’s theme is #BeaBikeHero.
You could: replace a car journey by going by bike, cycle to school or go for a social ride. If you’re in Whitehill & Bordon, don’t forget you could hire a bike for free to travel the Green Loop.
You could also win a bike by joining their campaign on Instagram or X.

Contamination (putting the wrong things in your recycling bin) means those things must be sifted out at the recycling facility and (if there’s enough overall) could mean that the whole lorry-load of recycling is turned away and sent to be burned for power.
We’d love to be able to recycle more, and change is on the horizon, but for now, what we can take is limited by what Hampshire County Council is able to process.
Please only put paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, tins and cans and empty aerosols into your black recycling bin, or you could receive one of our bin hangers.
