Our campaign leads to rethink on home-building targets
The government says it will look again at how housing targets are calculated and aims to put local communities at the heart of the planning system.
You can have your say on changes to the planning framework, through a national consultation being run by the Department of Levelling-Up, Housing and Communities.
The consultation has come about as a result of rigorous lobbying by East Hampshire District Council, where we argued that nationally-set housing figures are too high for our area.
The consultation runs until Thursday 2 March.

Whitehill & Bordon: Wow, what a difference!
Partners and organisations who worked together to regenerate Whitehill & Bordon met to look back and celebrate everything that's been achieved so far over the last seven years.
Since the Army left the town in 2015 local authorities, landowners, government bodies, developers, businesses and voluntary groups have worked hand-in-hand with the community to make life-changing and lasting improvements to the town.
Watch this video to see what they thought were the biggest success so far.
Thanks to a clear, aspirational plan, Whitehill & Bordon has been transformed into a green, healthy and connected town.
Take a look at everything that has been achieved.

The district and parish councillor elections are on Thursday 4 May 2023.
A change in the law means that you now need to bring photo ID to be able to vote at your polling station.
It's likely that you already have a suitable form of photo ID to use as ‘voter ID’. A wide range of photo ID will be accepted, including UK passport, driving licence, blue badge, or local travel ID, such as a bus pass. For a full list of what is acceptable go to the electoral commission website.
If don’t have an appropriate form of photo ID already, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate.
Applications will be open until 25 April 2023 for the May election.

There are more than 18,000 people in Hampshire with dementia. It is estimated to affect one in six people over 80, and one in 14 over 65.
Advice and assistance on how to live well with dementia will be on offer at the East Hampshire Dementia Festival on Friday 10 March 2023, at Petersfield Festival Hall.
The event provides a chance for people concerned about memory loss in themselves, or in a loved one, to meet and share similar experiences with people whose lives have also been affected by the condition.
There will be lots of expert advice, legal support, medical support, as well as compassion and companionship.
Along with all of the important information the event features activities suitable for people with dementia, such as music and crafts, and a chance to meet and chat with people.

Take a Chance on our Community Chest
Our community lottery is a great way to raise money for your favourite local charities.
Every year, money raised through the East Hampshire Community Lottery that has not been allocated directly to a good cause is put in our Community Chest.
Organisations can apply to the Community Chest for grants of up to £1,000. Last year 10 grants were given to a range of community groups across the district.
To play the lottery, you can buy £1 tickets online, with 50p going to a participating charity of their choice, 40p to administration and the remaining 10p is used to build up the council’s Community Chest fund.
Every week there are cash prizes of up to £25,000 to be won - and what's more, everyone that buys a ticket before Saturday 25th February will automatically be entered into a national draw to win a year’s subscription to HelloFresh.
