Christmas is coming!
This year, why not get yourself on Santa’s nice list by reducing the amount of waste you produce?

Buying from local shops will help support the local economy and reduce the distance that gifts travel around the country or the world.

Many charity shops will have Christmas gifts that have been donated that could be the perfect gift for someone in your life.
If your kids have grown out of toys, games or other gifts, why not donate them to your local charity shop or sell them on a second-hand site?

If you can, buy gifts with less packaging.
Don’t forget that you may need to separate cardboard packaging from plastics that can’t be recycled when you’re throwing them out.
Many shops now have plastic-free Christmas crackers, or you could try making your own from a kit and putting useful or reusable items in them.

If you receive presents for family and friends in cardboard boxes, fold them down to save space in your recycling bin or decorate them and use them as a gift box.
You’re probably going to have more recycling than normal around Christmas, so don’t forget that our provider will take additional recycling in cardboard boxes on your recycling day as long as they are dry.
