Saturday 3 December is Small Business Saturday, so why not visit your local high street to get your Christmas gifts?
There’s free parking on Saturday from 10am-4pm in Lady Place car park in Alton and Swan Street car park in Petersfield. EHDC-owned car parks in other villages in the district are also free to use.
There are 6,500 small or micro businesses (with 50 staff or less) in the district* including many high street retailers and services. Roughly 63p of every £1 spent in local small businesses stay in the area, so by shopping locally you’ll also be supporting local people.
We were nominated recently for All-Round Small Business Friendly award by the Federation of Small Businesses (the FSB) and the support programmes we’ve set up are still available if you’re running a small business.
Councillor Ken Moon, East Hampshire District Council (EHDC) portfolio holder for Economic Prosperity, said:
“Small businesses are the lifeblood of the district’s economy, so it’s vitally important to EHDC that we support them.
"Small Business Saturday is a good opportunity to highlight the importance of small businesses to our economy, but supporting local businesses is a year-round job.
“Our wellbeing and business support schemes were set up during the coronavirus pandemic but they’re still available for local businesses to access until the end of March 2023.”
