Businesses in East Hampshire district with fewer than 50 employees who haven’t been eligible for other coronavirus grants can now apply for one to support their property overheads.
Businesses within shared offices and other flexible workspaces are being prioritised under the scheme with applications open until midnight on Thursday 11 June.
The Local Authority Discretionary Grant Fund for East Hampshire is a total of £1,319,500 from central government, which will provide grants on a scale from £2,500 to £10,000 based on evidenced overhead costs.
When applications have closed, all valid and complete applications will be considered by the council's Chief Financial Officer and her team in accordance with agreed criteria.
Councillor Richard Millard, Leader of East Hampshire District Council said:
“We have given out £24,125,000 in grants to more than 1,900 small or retail, hospitality and leisure businesses in the district [26 May 2020] but I know that there are still businesses out there that need a helping hand to get through this crisis.
“We are prioritising small businesses in shared offices or other flexible workspaces and regular market traders as they are most likely to need our help at this time.
“The situation isn’t perfect, we expect more applications than we can pay grants to, but we will use this money to help as many of the district’s businesses as we can.
“Any businesses that meet the criteria for the new fund should get their application in as soon as possible. Support is available for businesses that need additional help before submitting an application.”
