Sideshore promenade reopens as first phase of Exmouth seawall work nears completion

Photo of the re-opened promenade in front of Exmouth's Sideshore. The sky and sea are blue.

The promenade in front of Exmouth's Sideshore reopened last week. Businesses are open and looking forward to welcoming you.

This section of the seawall is where sand levels had dropped below the foundations, causing it to fall forward and crack. A steel sheet pile wall was installed through the ground and the 102 metres of failed wall.

We would like to thank the engineers and contractors for their hard work, as well as visitors, residents, and local businesses for their patience whilst the repairs have been underway.

Phase two, planned for late September, has been approved, with a further 150 metres of vulnerable seawall set to be secured with a steel sheet pile wall. Residents will be consulted on the appearance of the wall as part of the third phase.

Unwanted clothes? Help people in need

Bag good quality textiles and shoes and place them in your kerbside recycling box for the Salvation army! This reuse scheme helps people in need

Please bag good quality textiles and shoes and place them in your kerbside recycling box for The Salvation Army. This reuse scheme helps people in need.

Keep items clean and dry - in wet weather, wait until it's dry to put out textiles.

Collection crews cannot collect duvets, pillows, or cushions, please put these in your grey refuse bin or take them to the recycling centre.

Ask yourself, "Would I buy this from a charity shop?" If yes, put them out for collection. If no, put them in the grey refuse bin for the Energy from Waste Facility in Exeter.

Thank you for donating,

The Recycling Team
