News and updates:Â
East Devon's apprentices share their stories
It's National Apprenticeship Week (5 - 11 February), and East Devon District Council have been celebrating the work of its apprentices. Council staff have been raising awareness of the exciting range of career paths that allow people to earn while they learn, both at the Exeter College Apprenticeship Expo on Thursday, 8 February and on the council's social media channels.
We shared Gemma's story of studying a 4-year Environmental Health Professional Apprenticeship alongside her full-time job. HR Support Apprentice Molly also recorded a video, talking about her experience and why she would whole-heartedly recommend doing an apprenticeship.
246 tonnes of aluminium collected from East Devon’s households in 2023
The team would like to say a big thank you to residents for keeping aluminium in the 'loop'
Aluminium is the most valuable material that recycling crews collect from households.
Please recycle all of your aluminium items including drinks cans, foil, foil trays, aerosols and jar lids. These materials can be recycled over and over again.
Making aluminium from virgin ore uses huge amounts of energy. By recycling your aluminium packaging you are helping to reduce energy use and fighting climate change.

Successful outdoor social gatherings at Woodbury Tennis Club following community grant
The grant was used to purchase two gazebos and tables so that members, visitors and teams can meet outdoors
Woodbury Lawn Tennis Club offers social tennis and competitions for all ages and abilities, so when they applied to East Devon District Council for Small Community Grant funding, we were delighted to be able to support them.
