Say hello to our new ACED Champions

Pip Piper - ACED Film and Media Champion

Pip is an Exmouth-based film producer and director. He has been making films professionally for over 25 years and has filmed across the world. He is the co-founder and current director of media charity OSBD which helps develop novice and emerging filmmaking talent, locally, regionally and nationally.

Debbie Piper - ACED Creative Education Champion 

Before living in Devon, Debbie lived and worked in Birmingham for 30 years where she trained as a youth and community worker, working with young people aged between 15 and 25 and mentored and supported youth workers across the city. Debbie’s passion is to help people connect with the positive educational benefits of the arts and culture.

Free training - practical activities with presentations and discussion, looking at all aspects of caring for museum and gallery collections. Suitable for anyone, paid or volunteer, who works with a collection.

Update: Arts Project in East Devon

Sidmouth School of Art has developed two new art commissions for Sidmouth:

Sidmouth Telephone Box Museums: Two of Sidmouth's iconic red telephone kiosks have been refurbished and repurposed into mini museums.

Holiday Makers of Sidmouth is the latest artwork to adorn the Sidmouth Wallspace. These plasticine head sculptures have been created by artist Wilfrid Wood, creator from satirical show Spitting Image.


Heritage is free this September

This September, celebrate the fantastic history and culture across Devon and the UK. It's your chance to get up close to the heritage in East Devon, including Killerton Estate, Hemyock Castle and archaeological finds in the Blackdown Hills, all for free.

Upcoming events are listed in East Devon Excellence’s What’s On guide. If you have an event which you think would attract visitors to the region, please email Jane Rayner: tourismnetwork@eastdevonexcellence.co.uk

  • HdK Webinars  - free monthly webinars on digital marketing including social media management and analytics, optimising websites and building campaigns.

Funding Opportunities

  • Grant Funding for young people in Devon
    16-30 year olds: Training & Employment Support Grant Up to £500 for help entering training, an apprenticeship or starting a job after being unemployed.
    18-30 year olds: South West Enterprise Fund Up to £2,000 for young people starting their own business eg purchasing equipment, marketing materials or stock. Applications can be submitted at any time.

  • Creative Enterprise: Business Builder New opportunity for small businesses working in ‘moving image’ for storytelling. This includes film, TV, animation, games and immersive media. Maximum grant £2,500. Deadline: March 2024.

  • The Arts Society. Local arts/heritage organisations can apply for a grant of up to £3,000. Funding is for UK registered charities and can be used to support a range of activities to introduce people of all ages and backgrounds to and engage them in, artistic experience and practice. Deadline: 30 September.
