Everyone matters spotlight credit unions

Tax Credits are moving to Universal Credit

Tax credit claimants will soon be invited to claim for Universal Credit. When you receive your migration notice, don't panic! You will not lose out financially when you move to Universal Credit as long as there are no changes to your circumstances as you move to UC. There will be financial transitional protection once you receive your migration notice so that you won’t be financially worse off on Universal Credit.

The migration notice will explain the next step that you must take in order to move to Universal Credit, however if you need extra support please contact the DWP directly via the contact details on the migration notice or contact The UC Support Team, here at East Ayrshire Council.

If your assessment period either starts or ends nearer the end of the month, due to our pay cycle, you may have experienced a "double payment" of monthly earnings being reported in a single Assessment Period or no earnings being reported at all.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), when requested, should be able to allocate your pay into the correct assessment period (i.e. where it was earned) to produce a more accurate calculation. We would recommend that you add a note to your journal if you are aware that your pay will not be calculated in the relevant assessment period.
