New rules - let's work together

People and businesses are being urged to work together to help tackle coronavirus as new rules come into force from next week.

The government announced a string of new measures to tackle and control the virus.

It includes limiting people to groups of up to six indoors and outdoors as well as new guidance for food premises to take contact details of people to support the track and trace system.

The leader of Dudley Council said businesses and the people visiting them need to “work in tandem” to make the new rules work and tackle the virus.

Don't be a tosser! Pick up your litter!

You may have noticed new posters which have gone up across the borough targeting fly-tippers and litter louts

The strong message behind the campaign was originally launched by City of York Council. Since lockdown restrictions were eased, Dudley Council has seen an increase in fly-tipping and rubbish dumped at borough beauty spots and green spaces.

Figures released earlier this year revealed there had been nearly 7,000 recorded incidents of fly-tipping in the borough between 2011/12 and 2018/19, costing the council £371,382 in clean-up costs

Video message from the council leader

In a video message to residents, the leader of Dudley Council has warned that this is not a time to be complacent in the fight against coronavirus.

This comes as the government this week introduced new restrictions in England, which limits gatherings to six people both indoors and outdoors with some exemptions.

Changes to visiting arrangements in care homes

From Monday (September 14) Dudley Council will change visiting arrangements in care homes following a rise in the number of coronavirus cases.

This weekend (Sept 12 & 13) care homes in the borough will remain open to visitors, but people are urged to only visit if it’s essential and to meet their friend or loved one outside in gardens where possible

Extra help

People who test positive for coronavirus are being given an extra layer of support with the launch of ‘welfare checks’ by health officials.

Dudley Council will be calling people who test positive to check they have everything they need and to offer further support.

Black Country Food Bank

Dudley borough residents and schools are encouraged to donate food or funds to support the Black Country Foodbank during Harvest due to increased demand during the pandemic

Home care services

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) recently carried out a remote assessment of the council’s home care service. Within each area of the assessment the council was found to be delivering positively against all criteria

Regeneration scheme promises bright future

The Local Development Scheme (LDS), which identifies the timescales for several Dudley borough regeneration proposals, has been put forward to take the borough from 2020 to 2024

Public space protection order

Dudley Council is inviting feedback on a proposed Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) which includes Dudley town centre.

The order is being proposed as a way of clamping down on a small number of individuals and groups who commit anti-social behaviour in the popular market town

University plans for Castle Hill

A major expansion of higher education in Dudley is taking a step forward as part of the £1billion regeneration masterplan for the town.

Dudley Town’s Fund Board is seeking funding from central government’s Towns Fund to develop a new University style centre to meet the growing demand for higher skills in the region

Antiques fair

Himley Hall and Park is hosting another outdoor antiques and collectors fair on 20 September.

Admission £2, under 16s free.
