The Queen's Birthday Celebrations

There’s plenty to look forward to across the district this summer, with a range of colourful community events as part of the Queen’s official birthday celebrations on 12 June.

Communities are joining in the celebrations by holding street parties. If you wish to hold an event, please let us know so we can help.

DDC is organising a special Parade in the Park event from 1-4pm on 12 June in Kearsney Abbey to celebrate the occasion.

Investing In Our Communities

North Deal Play Area

We have launched new facilities in Walmer and North Deal ready for the summer season.

In May, we launched an exciting new play zone at the North Deal Playing Field, with a £110k investment in new facilities at the site.

We also launched new facilities for people with disabilities, with the extension of the toilet block alongside Walmer Paddling Pool.

Investing In The Future

We are consulting on two key multi million pound projects this summer, as we continue to work hard to invest for the future.

We’re committed to working with communities and sports governing bodies to build a new leisure centre to replace Dover Leisure Centre. We're set to consult on options for a new Leisure Centre from next month.

We are also consulting on options for Dover Town Hall with a view to a major investment in this important historic building.  A consultation is set to start this month.

Digging Into The History Of Sandwich

Volunteers are being sought to take part in an archaeological dig in Sandwich from 15-25 June.

The dig is the result of a successful funding application to the Coastal Revival Fund by Dover District Council in January 2016.  DDC is working in partnership with the Canterbury Archaeological Trust and Sandwich Town Council to undertake the dig.
