Learning and Teaching Up on the Downs
New online resources have been made available for schools to help make it easier for teachers to take their classes into the great outdoors. We are very pleased with the results and they can be viewed, downloaded and used from the website...
Up on the Downs have teamed up with Dover Town Council and Skills Horizon to offer bushcraft and geocaching events for 13 to 18 year olds over the Easter weekend. For more information and to book a place visit the What's On page of our website.
This year's training programme, which offers free places on a wide range of courses relating to our built and natural heritage, is now well underway. Courses on basketry, hedgelaying and woodland archaeology have already taken place but we are still taking bookings on a whole host of other courses. More info and booking...
We are working with Screen South to deliver film making workshops to teenagers and find out what they think about their landscape. The first of these has already taken place but more are coming up shortly. Find out more about the project and how to attend.
The
Bumblebee Conservation Trust is developing a new project to help strengthen and
protect wild bee species around 300 miles of our coastline from Dartford to
Rye. The Kent coast is a hotspot for rare bumblebees, with more species found
here than anywhere else in the UK. Visiting communities all around the coast,
Making a Buzz will offer something for everyone to get involved in – from
learning to identify bumblebees, to getting stuck in to help restore vital
habitat for rare bees, or making your very own buzzing window box or solitary
bee hotel!
But they need your help! Why not complete
their quick online survey to tell them what you think about the project and what
activities interest you most – they’d love to hear from you.
