The Dickie Hewlett Collection
A showcase of over 60 bequeathed artworks which includes Picasso, Braque and Matisse along with key modern British artists such as Joan Eardley RSA, William Gear and William Scott RA.

Much Ado About Nightjars
An immersive mixed media exhibition exploring the world of the mysterious Nightjar and one of their local habitats, the Lochar Mosses - a forest-to-bog restoration site by photographers Leeming+Paterson
The exhibition will also feature Scene: here, a multi-screen video installation created by John Wallace exploring NTS Threave Nature Reserve at Kelton Mains and the yearly return of ospreys. The work was originally created as a result of his 2020-21 Artful Migration residency.

Gracefield Craft Shop presents – Floribundance

Saturday 21 October: Frame Basket with Geoff Forrest
Just in time for some autumnal foraging, Geoff Forrest is back to lead his ever-popular class in willow weaving and you will make a frame basket using pre-soaked willow.
Time: 10am-4pm Cost: £60 includes materials for 2/3 finished works and tea/coffee am/pm.

Teens and Kids Club
Environmental artist and teacher Jan Hogarth will look at the migration of birds and the adventures they might have in the style of a cartoon strip. Kids will also have guided walk around the Gallery 1 exhibition, with an added feature, if time, to create a news report and ‘present’ from a pop-up TV screen. £5.50/£8 two booked together.

Free materials to play and create with our gallery staff on hand to help if needed. Try a flower still life, or clay sculpture inspired by the gallery exhibition with Gracefield staff and volunteers. Up to 20 spaces available at a time, first come first served. Under 8s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian, activity should take about an hour depending on age/interest.

A gothic look at puppet dolls with our phantastic ghoulish artist, Rhiannon Dewar.
Friday 27 October: TEENS Silver Clay Jewellery
UPDATE : last places available
Special workshop by Sybil Williams of Solway Silver. Due to the nature of the materials, this workshop will cost £10 per person for materials, but you will have a finished piece of silver jewellery to takeaway.
Ages 12-16 only, 10.30am-3.30pm.
Kids Club: Saturday 28 October. Samhain Masks:
Learn about the ancient Celtic origins of Halloween and make a mask in the style of animals and birds to celebrate Samain, with Jan Hogarth.
Admission to exhibition is always FREE.
