Scotland's #SuicidePreventionWeek starts today. Show your support by using the #TogetherWeCanSaveLives. Let's make Scotland the most supportive country in the world & help prevent suicide by talking openly & compassionately about it.

These have been challenging times. As we now turn our attention to the future, it’s important to remember that others around us may be struggling.

Now more than ever, employees need support for their mental health. This Scotland’s #SuicidePreventionWeek find out how you can support better mental health in the workplace.

On average 2 people took their own life every day in Scotland last year. That's not just a number. It was Family. Friends. Work colleagues.

Service committees restart

This week, a number of our service committees restarted. On Tuesday, Social Work Services and Education and Learning committees were held.

As a result of the pandemic, our services have had to change over the past few months with some services only able to undertake work with a skeleton staff and some could not be delivered at all due to the restrictions. Many of our staff took up different roles, helping deliver frontline and support services to those who needed it the most.

Subsequently, services committees did not meet.  Instead, an Ad-hoc COVID-19 sub-committee was established at which papers were presented on our council’s response to the pandemic. Due to the restrictions, Councillors were unable to come together to attend the meetings. Instead, they met virtually over Microsoft Teams. This ad-hoc sub-committee was disbanded in July.

With more of our services now restarting, our services committees have restarted from this week. Councillors will continue to meet virtually to take part in these committees!
