Devon County Council - Insider

Weekly Staff Briefing

3 May 2013

Welcome to this week's edition of Insider

Today, you can watch the results of the County Council elections online for the first time and see democracy in action as it happens.

Big challenges are ahead for local government so we encourage staff to sign up to our Open Day on 9 May to find out more about our Future Landscape work and how to get involved.

We catch up with previous STARS winners and see how they enjoyed their winning experience, and we find out why having a paid work experience placement is paying off for one of our teams!

Contributions to Insider are always welcome - we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sheelagh Dawson

Following the sad news that Sheelagh Dawson, a solicitor and highly valued member of our legal team, has passed away, I wish to inform colleagues that her funeral will take place on Friday 10 May at 3:15 pm at the East Devon Crematorium in Whimple (post code EX5 2PT). Sheelagh worked with many staff from across the organisation, and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.

Security for your scanning

When using the network / folder scanning option on a Multi-Function Device (MFD) the default destination for all scanning to be sent is generally an open folder.

Our Information Governance Team would like to remind you of the importance of ensuring the security of your scanned documents. In doing so, they pose the question "do you know where your scanning is going?" (PDF version)
