Good Morning/Afternoon Colleagues,
Further to the recent farewell note from Shirley Cuthbert, I wanted to take some time to introduce myself to you all. But before I start, I’d like to wish Shirley all the best in her retirement & after an amazing 37 year career in Pensions it’s certainly deserved.
As Shirley mentioned previously, I joined Peninsula Pensions in July of last year – managing the Member Support Team & providing a front-line service to all pension members via both telephone and Member Self Service channels, in addition to overseeing the post that members send in. These last 10 months have also given me the opportunity to get close to the people and processes at Peninsula Pensions, and to listen to the feedback our members provide – something I am keen to continue.
Before joining Peninsula, I had the pleasure of managing a diverse range of teams both in the UK and the Channel Islands & have worked in a wide range of roles from project management to overseeing an international complaints department. As a qualified Financial Adviser, I’ve also seen first-hand the positive impact a strong, well-managed pension can have on people’s retirement plans.
Outside of my career, I enjoy spending time with my amazing wife and my two young boys (Henry & George) and, when I can squeeze in the time, am passionate about angling and generally spending time outdoors.
I’m aiming to use my 17 years of industry experience to build on the amazing work that Shirley, the Employer and Communications team & the wider Peninsula Pensions teams have already delivered, and I’m very excited to start engaging with you over the coming weeks and months.
I look forward to working with you all, to deliver the highest levels of service to our employers and pension members alike.
Kindest regards
Gareth Shackler
Employer & Communications Strategic Lead
