Thank you to all our Employers who were able to publicise our Member talks. Mark Griffin, our Employer Liaison and Training Officer, presented the 5 sessions to approximately 700 Scheme Members. Feedback from the events has been very positive. Details of future plans regarding similar events will be discussed at the annual administration meetings in November.
This year’s administration meetings will take place in the mornings of the 11th and 13th November, in Exeter and Taunton respectively as well as online.
We are currently finalising presenters and the agenda and will send invites for you to confirm attendance shortly. In the meantime please save the date on your calendar.
It is important that representatives of all employers attend to ensure that you remain up to date with LGPS matters affecting processes and your scheme members. It is also an opportunity to network with colleagues from different organisations.
This year’s agenda includes
PP Communications with employers and members
Update on PAS and employer reports
Employer responsibilities and discretions
Importance of data and the valuation
Regulation update including McCloud
As administrators of the Devon and Somerset Pension Funds, Peninsula Pensions is legally required to have a formal complaints procedure known as IDRP, which places strict obligations on scheme employers and administering authorities.
The IDRP is a formal procedure which is in place to resolve disagreements about decisions taken regarding LGPS pension matters. The process is in two stages:
- Stage 1 complaint relates to employer pension responsibilities, i.e. ill health tier awarded is looked at by your nominated IDRP Stage 1 Appeals Officer.
- Stage 2 is looked at by the Administering authority nominated officer.
More information on the process can be found on our website
Regulations state that you must appoint a person to consider appeal cases at Stage 1 of the IDRP, so if you haven’t already, please confirm who that is via our online form.
