If you are a Multi Academy Trust (MAT) who are taking on a new academy or you are an admitted body with a new contract pending, separate data needs to be kept for the different contracts/academies and we will confirm the new employer number when we have everything in place.
|
Please do not pay any contributions or provide pensions data using existing employer numbers.

As administrators of the Devon and Somerset Pension Funds, Peninsula Pensions is legally required to have a formal complaints procedure known as IDRP which places strict obligations on both scheme employers, administering authorities and Peninsula Pensions.
The IDRP is a formal procedure which is in place to resolve disagreements about decisions taken regarding LGPS pension matters. The process is in two stages:
- Stage 1 complaint relating to employer pension responsibilities ie ill health tier awarded is looked at by your nominated IDRP Stage 1 Appeals Officer.
- Stage 2 is looked at by The Administering authority nominated officer.
More information on the process can be found on our website
|
Regulations state that you must appoint a person to consider appeal cases at Stage 1 of the IDRP so if you haven’t already, please confirm who that is via our online form.

Just to remind you that members cannot remain in the LGPS once they reach age 75. We currently send out a list to employers each month with any members who are approaching age 75 or over with details of what you need to do but please do not rely on this list to take action - it’s important that you have the ability to identify these members yourselves.
|
In line with the LGPS regulations, please ensure that members are informed and brought out of the scheme before their 75th birthday or on the eve of their 75th birthday at the latest and arrange for a leavers spreadsheet to sent to us.

For those members where data is missing/under review we have contacted those individuals directly explaining the reason.
The Local Government Association (LGA) have recently published ill health retirement bitesize training. This free, interactive training is aimed at employers and covers the ill heath retirement process including the criteria, the decision-making process and the benefits payable. There are separate courses covering active members and deferred members. You can find the ill health retirement bite-size training on the employer bite-size training page of www.lgpsregs.org
The LGA have also published Employer strike FAQs to cover the common questions that employers ask when an LGPS member takes strike action. You can find the strike action FAQs on the employer guides and documents page of www.lgpsregs.org
