We’ve been using the leaver spreadsheet for a few months now and the process is working well. Here’s a couple of reminders for when you are completing the spreadsheet:
- LGPS 2008 Final Salary Pay - We no longer require employers to provide a breakdown of the Full Time Equivalent (FTE) figure for each change in hours or pay. Instead, please provide the FTE figure for the entire 365-day period and the percentage of hours as of the date of leaving. If there’s been a change in hours or pay during the period stated, you will need to factor the change into your calculations. Therefore, you should only need to report a maximum of 3 lines (final year and previous 2 years if a higher pay is applicable).
There are some videos on our website Guidance - Peninsula Pensions to help you with completion of the spreadsheet and how to uprate the actual pensionable pay to the FTE figure we require.
- The leaver spreadsheet should only be completed once a member’s pensionable pay has been finalised and you are sure there will be no more additional payments to be included in their pensionable pay.
- If you need to notify us of a members revised pensionable pay following a pay award, please do not add this to the leavers spreadsheet but continue to use the form on our website
-
TUPEs & New Academies - please do not complete the leaver spreadsheet if members are leaving your employment and transferring to another employer under TUPE as this will complicate the process. Follow the process outlined on our website instead.
Thank you to all who have completed the survey, we are looking at the points raised to see what can be improved. The survey is still open so it’s not too late to give us some feedback.

This followed a series of in-depth compliance inspections with over 20 large employers which found several common errors in respect of calculating pension contributions and communications to staff.
