Supreme Court decision concerning term time workers

The Supreme Court has ruled in favour of a zero hours contract worker who works on a term-time only contract in a school. The case concerned how to calculate their holiday pay. It has implications for workers who work varying hours during only
certain weeks of the year but have a continuing contract.

The Supreme Court ruled that the policy the employer adopted was wrong.

Please note that our office will be closed from 12pm on Friday 23rd December 2022 and will reopen at 9am on Tuesday 3rd January 2023. Access to our Member Self Service portal will continue allowing registered users to update personal details, calculate retirement estimates, and to submit  documentation or questions securely and efficiently. Any questions asked will be responded to on our return.

Pension Administration Reminders:

Keep us updated with any changes in staff responsible for completing our forms and submitting pension data (authorised signatories) via our online form.

Payment of Pension Fund Contributions - please remember to inform us and the relevant Finance team each time you have paid your pension scheme contributions, by filling in the Monthly Contributions Form.

If you are changing your Payroll Provider, please contact the Employer & Communications Team so that we can help you through the process and make sure you retain access to historical payroll information.

TUPEs & New Academies – please do not submit any leavers forms if you are outsourcing services and have a number of staff who will be subject to TUPE or your school is converting to an Academy or moving Trusts. Instead, you will need to follow the process on our website.
