Please note that our office will be closed from 12pm on Friday 23rd December 2022 and will reopen at 9am on Tuesday 3rd January 2023. Members can still view and ask questions via Member Self Service and we will reply on our return. |
Following the agreement to award an increase of £1,925 on all NJC pay points applicable from and back dated to 1 April 2022, any members who have left or retired since 1 April 2022 may need their benefits to be recalculated on the revised pensionable pay.
If you have a policy to award the backpay to leavers, you will need to provide us with a revised leaver form for each affected member. You will not be able to load any revised forms to ESS as you will no longer have access to the records so we ask that you follow the process on our website.
If a member suffers a reduction in their rate of pay in the final 10 years before they leave or retire, they can elect to look at the best 3 consecutive years in the last 13. For this to apply the member must elect in writing at least a month before the date of leaving. For simplicity, these 13 years all end on 31 March rather than anniversaries of the date of leaving.
A member can request this in writing at any time, up to one month before they leave to initiate the above protection and it will be for you as the employer to provide the full 13 years pay to us so you need to make sure retain the relevant records. Please see our Employer’s Guide to The LGPS for more information.
As Pension Administrators, we are legally obliged to provide scheme members with a Pensions Savings Statement relating to Annual Allowance, where the pension savings in the pension input period are more than the annual allowance. This must be provided before 6th October following the end of the relevant tax year.
