Headteacher Email Updates

To ensure that school leaders are well informed and kept up to date with important information from the Local Authority and the DfE, regular headteacher updates are being emailed directly to you via Dawn Stabb, Head of Education & Learning.

If you are not receiving these on a regular basis please let us know via email and we'll make sure you are added to the distribution list.

Return to schools update from Dawn Stabb

Much has changed since the government first announce plans for a wider return to school. As such, Dawn Stabb, Devon County Council’s Head of Education and Learning, has set out Devon’s response to the Government’s plans for a wider return to school in an open letter to parents and carers.

RNLI Education Resources

This summer, RNLI Lifeguards can’t be on every beach, meaning a heightened water safety risk to beach goers.

Throughout the summer term, the local team of trained volunteers and Lifeguards do their best to visit as many of the schools, colleges and youth groups in the region as possible. However, due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak they have not been able to engage with school communities as they normally would and for this reason have developed have resources so pupils can have some Water Safety offering for 2020.

Reminder: Devon Maintenance Partnership

New Agreement 2020 - 2024

The Devon Maintenance Partnership (DMP) Agreement, which has been running since April 2015, expired at the end of March 2020. Based on the success of this scheme, a replacement DMP 2020-2024 has been developed to maintain the standards set in the previous scheme and also enhanced to cover additional installations and include further benefits.

Action: schools are required to confirm their intention of continued subscription OR of new schools wishing to join OR of schools opting out of the scheme by completing and returning this DMP registration form. Note that academies and VA schools need not respond as the DMP is not open to them.

For further information about the Devon Maintenance Partnership 2020-2024 agreement, please contact Nick Cook (NPS)  T 01392 351226   E nick.cook@nps.co.uk

DMP contractor performance

In general this has been challenging due to Covid-19 both from a contractor resource perspective and in some instances restricted access to school premises. Schools are reminded that there is an expectation/requirement that statutory compliance testing and servicing should continue and would request that schools continue to facilitate access for contractors where/when it is possible to do so.
