SEND Review - Written Statement Of Action

Message from Dawn Stabb, Head of Education & Learning DCC and Alun Dobson, DAPH Chair, also sent via Schools Priority Alerts 'Headteacher Update' email 05.04.19

Headteachers will be aware that following the SEND review in December the Local Area was required to complete a Written Statement of Action (WSoA) to address four areas which needed significant improvement.

A Strategic Action Group made up of senior leaders from DCC, Health, Education, Social Care, the CCG and the new health service provider hold the responsibility for producing the WSoA; Alun Dobson (DAPH Chair) has represented schools on this group. Over the past few weeks this group has listened to and worked constructively, face to face, with parents, to grapple with the challenges in the current system and have done their best to capture their ideas for improvement in the WSoA. The language is designed to make the document accessible to most people but will also be accompanied by a family-friendly version.

We are writing today to invite your comments and contributions on the current working draft of this document; unfortunately, this coincides with the Easter break and we realise this is not ideal; the timings are not Devon's to control.

You can find the draft WSoA via this link: http://devon.cc/draftwsoa

The link should live by 1pm today (Fri 5 April) at the latest.

Please take the time to read through the document and let us know if you feel there are improvements we could make or examples where your school could take actions that need to be included (particularly in how we communicate with each other).

In order to submit to Ofsted on time we will need all responses back by Wednesday 24th April.

Email any comments you want to make to: schoolspriorityalerts-mailbox@devon.gov.uk

A huge thank you to everyone who has already sent in feedback or shared their views.
