Reply from The Rt Hon Nick Gibb MP  |  Rural Underfunding in Education

In light of the fair funding campaign, Matthew Shanks (DASH Co-Ordinator), Alun Dobson (DAPH Vice-Chair) and Clare Coates (Business Manager) met with Anne Marie Morris MP (for Newton Abbot) on 2 February 2018 to discuss the ongoing issues of school finance within Devon.

Following this meeting a five point summary of funding challenges affecting Devon schools and titled The Devon Challenge  was drawn up to support a  L E T T E R  to The Rt Hon Nick Gibb MP. The letter outlined Anne Marie Morris' concerns regarding rural underfunding in education and sought a further meeting with the Minister of State for School Standards.

The Minister replied to this letter on 13 March 2018  - see his response  H E R E

Primary Allocations for 2018/19

Message from Karen Howes, Admissions Manager

The Admissions Team are currently working hard to validate and process a high level of applications this year. As Easter is early and we are keen to ensure that data provided is accurate and timely, I have decided that provisional allocation lists will be issued over the Easter Holiday, rather than rush to get them to you for 29th March, as published.

I am sure this is the best decision to avoid confusion and inaccuracy and I hope that on return from the Easter Break you will be able to view the lists and contact us with any queries. National Offer Day is 16th April 2018.

Action Counters Terrorism (ACT) Campaign and Final Toolkit

The latest campaign under the ACT (Action Counters Terrorism) banner was launched on Tuesday, 20th March and iis designed to encourage the public to report any suspicions about potential attack planning – a timely message as we approach the first anniversaries of last year’s tragic attacks in London and Manchester.

Communities across Great Britain will be urged to help defeat terrorism and save lives by reporting suspicious activity and behaviour to police via www.gov.uk/ACT.

The campaign activity is spread across four weeks and you can help support it by;

  • Downloading the toolkit  H E R E
  • Sharing the digital assets and creative film on your organisation’s social media accounts (see toolkit)
  • Adapting the news story template for your website about why you’re supporting ACT and share examples of signs to spot and how to report
  • Using external newsletters, your website, blogs and other channels to signpost the public to advice on how to report suspicious activity or behaviour that could be terrorist related via www.gov.uk/ACT
  • Using staff newsletters and your intranet to signpost internal staff to advice on how to report suspicious activity or behaviour that could be terrorist related via www.gov.uk/ACT
  • Sharing ACT posters and graphics in your organisation’s building, display screens and public areas
